  • Once applications are complete, a list is given to the coordinator that includes number of children by age, senior citizens and number of families.
  • The coordinator then works with the Board of Directors to review the quantity needed of food bags, toys and turkey vouchers.
  • Then the shopping process begins! We coordinate with the local discount stores to setup shopping days. The shopping, loading/unloading and separation of the items for distribution is the major need for volunteers due to the volume of food and toys.
  • The toy/food store usually opens 30 days prior to the distribution. Appointment times are scheduled and volunteers assist during this time preparing the store to open by stocking shelves, labeling toys, packagaing food bags, etc.
  • The distribution week is usually one week prior to Christmas. During this week, the families come in to shop for their children. They are greeted by volunteers who help them select one toy from each price range for a minimum of two toys per child. At this time, they also receive a stocking stuffer, candy bag, food bag and turkey voucher.
